Dr Ravi Bala is the VP for Data Science & Analytics at Victoria’s Secret & Company (VSCO), leading the enterprise data science, AI & analytics charter. In his current capacity, he drives the AI strategy for Victoria’s Secret with his team leveraging the latest advancements in AI and generative AI to provide personalized omni-shopping experiences for our customers, and help our store associates.
Before Victoria’s Secret, he served as Director of Data Science at Walmart and, as VP of Data Science at Noodle.ai. At Walmart, he led a large team of data scientists and ML engineers building data products and AI solutions in areas such as customer science & loyalty, logistics & supply chain, and omnichannel merchandising. He has several years of experience in design, product R&D, IoT systems and AI/ML systems in manufacturing and industrial sectors.
Ravi Bala is passionate about educating and mentoring the younger generation on technology and the ethical/responsible use of AI. He loves building reusable data science assets as AI/ML products, adopting software engineering principles and scalable distributed computing algorithms. He has filed twelve international patents (five granted to date) on smart insights and alerting systems and published over 10+ peer-reviewed papers. He has a Ph. D. in Computational Engineering from Mississippi State University, USA and a B.Tech. (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering from BITS, Pilani, India.
